1. The Department of Physics is an inherent constituent of Govt. Science College, Chatrapur which was started functioning from the year 1970-71.

2. INFRASTRUCTURE AND LEARNING RESOURSES
Department of Physics is having the following infrastructure facilities to cater the needs of Physics students:

3. ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE STUDENTS:
In 2019, three students named Srinivas Rao, Siva Sankar Maharana and Devismita Panda pursued M. Sc in Delhi University, NIT- Manipur and Berhampur University respectively. In 2020, two students named Siva Sankar Nahak and Sipak Sahu got services in Air force and Navy respectively. In 2021, Priyanka Panigrahi, Lipika Sethy got admitted in M.Sc in Berhampur University and Khallikote University respectively. In 2022, Tapaswini Tarei pursued MCA. In 2023, Pujarani Sahu and Nandini Sahu took admission in M.Sc. at Berhampur University. In 2024, Roumya Ranjan Swain secured 6th rank in Berhampur University UG exam.
